Just sailed the XX rig

Hi guys,
My father and I have very recently bought and sailed the 29erXX. The first time we took it out the breeze was about 6-10 knots. Upwind there was not much difference between the two rigs, we had me (the crew) coming in and out. Downwind we had a nice fresher patch of 8-10 knots where we got both of us on the wire. She took off when the skipper and the boat felt so smooth going at around 12 knots of boat speed in just 10 knots of wind speed.

29erxx rig settings

Guys,

I ordered a new xx rig for my 29er. Can anybody give me some advice for rig tension on the various shrouds?

how feasible is it to have an xx and an old rig and switch depending on the day? obviously, youd pick for regattas etc, but are there any other issues?

Helm Trap Bungee

I am thinking of a way to make the helm trap bungee work a little better. The current approach of a block cable tied to the grab bar is a little too messy for my liking.

Considering drilling a hole in the gunwhale and using a plastic grommet to route the bungee back to the aft corner mimicking the crew trap bungeee. Has anyone tried doing this? Any problems you can think of besides possibly being an illegal move against yet to emerge class rules? Thanks in advance for your thoughtful remarks.

I was wondering, is the XX rig available in Canada?, And if it is, how much would it cost to upgrade?(in CND)

Events in 2007/8

I am thinking of getting an XX. Can anyone tell me what events are planned in the UK for 2007? Is there a UK Class association yet?

Also - is there a worlds planned for 2008 in Melbourne along with the 29er and 49er? If not, is there a worlds or Eurocup event planned anywhere soon? It'd be nice to have a glam event to work towards.
